Carol Schroeder:  General Science

Traveling the home school road from kinder to college, Carol is well versed in the home schooling process.  She has 14 years experience in home schooling her own two children and is passionate about teaching other home schoolers as well.  Confidently she has served as a co-op teacher for 6 years where she has led elementary, middle and high school classes.  Although excelling in the sciences, she is also passionate about teaching IEW.  After leaving her career as a physical therapist, Carol delights in instructing children and watching them learn and grow in God's truths.  While continually seeking to impact children's lives for Christ, she and her family are very involved in their church.  
Carol has a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy,  14 years of home school experience,  and 6 years of co-op teaching.

Course Description: This 1.5 hour weekly class is the first in the Apologia middle/high school series of courses.  Topics include biology, human anatomy and physiology, geology, and archeology.  Lectures are presented from a strong Christian worldview that recognized God as the Creator of everything in our universe, with attention given to the Bible/creationism vs. evolution.  Weekly homework is assigned and will require 4-5 hours/week to complete.  Labs are included and generally completed in class. Each student must purchase the 2 volume set of Exploring Creation with General Science 2nd edition which includes the student text and Solution and Tests book.  Parents will administer and grade tests at home using the Solutions and Tests book.

Laura Schlotfeldt:  MS Writing (IEW)

Laura Schlotfeldt is married to her wonderful husband Mark for 21 years and
together they have three sons.  She homeschooled all three of their children
for several years and has been teaching the IEW writing class four years
now.
Laura works as a licensed Realtor as well.

Course Description: A model driven, checklist based writing curriculum that makes writing easy by providing student's topics and helping to make writing easy and fun.

Ginger Torvik:  Tae Kwon Do

Ginger Torvik is a Tae Kwon Do instructor having achieved a third degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do with the World Black Belt Federation.  She has been a homeschooling mom of seven for over 22 years, and has been teaching martial arts for seven years.  She has her own studio in Adkins just south of San Antonio called Torvik Family Tae Kwon Do.  She received her training under Master Gary Pieratt, who is the founder and president of the World Black Belt Federation.  One of her great joys is having 5 of her children training and teaching with her.

Course Description: This class will focus on kicks, punches and combination routines, self-defense and weapons. Your student will gain poise, confidence, and endurance as they train hard and learn new skills. Martial Arts are a wonderful way for children to learn the discipline, hard work, and patience that it takes to be successful in life.

Robert Garcia:  Guitar, Electric or Acoustic, Bass

Robert Garcia has worked professionally in virtually all styles of music during his career, from latin jazz to rock in roll, country and pop. An active performer in the southern Texas area, he maintains a private teaching practice at Alamo Music Center. Starting at an early age, he studied violin and piano, and picked up guitar at 11. Then began to continue his career at San Fransisco Art Institute and The Jackie King Curriculum under Greg Robins. He has had the privledge to have played all over the county with popular artists including, members of the Wallflowers, Uncle Cracker, Six pence none the Richer, Kelly Clarkson, Bowling for Soup, Maroon 5, Foo Fighters, and world renowed Latin artists such as Tito Puente Jr. He has had success with a song on a national radio station with Mix96.1. He knows what it takes to be an active musician in the real world. He is happily married and has three children.

John Rupert: Guitar

John has been teaching for 23 years.  He started playing the guitar at the age of 7 and graduated form Berklee College of Music in Boston. He teaches numerous styles of contemporary music. He feels that one of his strengths as a teacher is open mindedness.  He appreciates a good song no matter what style and is willing to teach it to his students. John's teaching incorporates ear training, music theory and reading music notation.  He also likes to teach the creative side of music, encouraging students who are interested to compose their own music.

Linda Alexander:  Texas History

I have been homeschooling for 21 years and have taught Texas History to all of my children.  I love history and would love to offer this to a larger group than just my kids!  I have 6 children and am married to Randy Alexander.  I graduated from Central college in Pella, Iowa in 1983 with a degree in Communications and minors in German, Spanish and business.  I have been a stay at home mom since I got married in 1984 and my oldest son started kindergarten in 1990, so that was my first year to homeschool.  Presently, I am chairman of NWHE, and I am co-director/secretary at AWANA at NWCC, and I teach the 1st - 2nd grade Sunday School class at NWCC.  We have been Sunday School teachers on and off for most of our marriage.

Rhonda Stoker:  Spanish I

Rhonda Stoker was a missionaries' daughter in Central America. She & her husband worked as missionaries in Guatemala & Mexico as well. She lived in Latin America off & on for approx 28 years. She & her husband were in Mexico City with a mission work this last summer for over two months & traveled to Mexico again in February. 
Rhonda studied Spanish at Kingsway Language School in McAllen, TX and also at IGA Language Academy in Guatemala City. She has taught Spanish off & on through the years; in a Bible College & in her home.

Regina A. Moffett:  Meet the Masters (Art), A Literature Approach to Geography, History, and Science

Mrs. Moffett recently moved from California to Texas.  She has been homeschooling her two sons for twelve years, as well as teaching other homeschooled students privately and at Co-op Centers.  Although her passion is in science, she enjoys teaching history, literature, and art.  She has taught various classes including science and literature classes to k - 12.
Mrs. Moffett grew up in Chicago, Illinois where she obtained her Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts and  Masters in Communications and Training.  She incorporates her educational training and experiences into designing custom curriculum for home school families.
As a home school mom, she continually expands her knowledge, and uses her skills to seek out and incorporate various life experiences and educational tools to improve the learning experience of a child.  Mrs. Moffett has the ability to provide a formal education in a flexible learning environment.

Course DescriptionThis class is a literature approach to geography, history and science. The student will acquire a wide range of knowledge by reading four popular books by Holling C. Holling. Each book covers a different geographic region. Due to the richness of the books the student can gain a broad course of study in history and geography with a concentration on science. The student will also complete hands on projects. This course will involve the student completing and labeling maps, learning about different water ways, state names, Canada, various industries on the Great Lakes, how canal locks work, natural resources of the Great Lakes, Santa Fe Trail, Jamestown settlement, sketching a Conestoga Wagon, Lewis & Clark expedition, labeling a wide range of countries, and much more. Also, hands on learning may consist of creating a diorama, dissecting, and playing games.

Course Description: This class is a combination art history and hands on art projects. This class will utilize multimedia slides, voices, and music to introduce the student to various artists like Van Gogh, Cassatt, Picasso, and many more. The student will participate in a three step learning process. Step 1: the student will learn about the history behind the art. Step 2: the student will complete a follow-up packet. Step 3: The student creates an art project which uses the same medium and style the artist used.

Emilee Head:  Theater Basics

Emilee Head has taught music for 10+ years including private lessons and directing choirs and instrumental groups. She has been involved in numerous theater productions doing everything from acting to directing. Last year was spent in Germany working where Emilee worked as a missionary in a church there doing music as well as other outreach. She currently teaches private lessons and has openings for new students and is looking to start a theater group in San Antonio.

Rachel Brown: Pre Algebra

I am a Christian, and I believe that knowledge is a precious gift from God.  Thus I have always felt the need to share my knowledge, and use it to help others.  I have been tutoring math for about 10 years, and am studying to be a high school math teacher.  In addition to tutoring, I have had lots of teaching experience.  I have taught Sunday School at church for both children and adults.  I also served as a missionary for my church, and spent nearly all of my time
teaching people of all ages, races, and creeds.  I have received “A’s” in every math class I have ever taken, and I got a “5” on the AP Calculus test (the highest score possible), so I am sure I will be able to prepare my Calculus students for their AP test well.

Description:  Has your child ever expressed an interest in dance or movement?   At U Dance on Demand we have just the classes to make your child happy while meeting your needs of convenience and affordability!  We offer children ages 5 to 17 beginning to intermediate dance instruction.  We focus on poise, concentration, memory and balance all while having fun!  Classes offered are Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Hip Hop.

Classes are 45.00 per month.

Classes are 1 hour in length.

There is no supply fee, but the student must purchase the appropriate shoes and clothing for the style of dance.

Must have a minimum of 5 students registered before classes will begin.

There is a maximum of 10 students.

Tiffany Smith was born and raised in San Antonio, TX.  Her parents realized she had the gift of movement and rhythm at a very early age and decided to nurture it as much as possible.  She continued her education in dance through studios, high school, college and now the professional areas.  Because of her recognized passion for dance she has had the honor of training and learning from some of the top choreographers in the world.  Through dance she has had the opportunity to perform all over the United States in numerous national commercials, sporting events such as the Super Bowl with Beyonce, and background dance for musical artists such as Aerosmith.  Tiffany has also trained some of the San Antonio Spurs Silver Dancers prior to their auditions helping them to make this elite dance squad.  She now shares her love of dance and talent by teaching dance classes around the city and promotes people of all ages to maintain a healthy
lifestyle while having fun through dance.  For this talented dance technician dance is not just a hobby it is her passion and her way of life.
